Construction of Midblock Crossing in Little Ethiopia Business District

Fairfax Avenue between Whitworth and Olympic is the heart of Little Ethiopia and home to all of the business merchants. There is a lot of foot traffic in this area and even though there is a signal that allows for the midblock crossing, there was not an accessibility ramp to cross. This presented issues for our community members who have disabilities and require ADA accessible ramps. After years of coordination with the City of Los Angeles and the Mayor’s office as part of the Great Streets Initiative, the midblock crosswalk was installed in March of 2022.
